# Creating and Updating Profile

You can create a Profile for an application. You can select applications, such as software files, executable files and folders to configure them as Allow, Warning and Blocked Software. The Software configured as Allow (White List) can be installed by the users mapped to the Profile (see: Mapping Profiles) without any warning message. The Software configured as Warning can be installed by the users mapped to the Profile (see: Mapping Profiles) with a warning message. The Software configured as Blocked (Blacklist) cannot be installed by the users mapped to the Profile (see: Mapping Profiles), the Software installation is blocked. You can configure Profiles as Default Profiles and Master Profiles. The configured Default Profile is applied to unmapped Assets and Master Profile allows to configure only the White Listed Software.

To create/update a Profile, perform the following steps:

1. Navigate to **Asset > Configuration > Application Control > Create/Update Profile**.
2. On the **CREATE/UPDATE PROFILE** page, on the FILTERS pop-up page, select the **Department** and other required details and click **Submit**. A list of Profiles is displayed based on filter criteria
3. Click **Add New** on the **ACTIONS** panel to create a new Profile.
4. Enter the required details. For more information about fields and icons on the **CREATE/UPDATE PROFILE** page, see Field Description.

6. Fill in the required details under the Software Info, Executable Info, and Folder Info tabs (see: Field Description).
7. Click SUBMIT. A new Profile is created.

**Field Description**

The following table describes the fields on the CREATE/UPDATE PROFILE page:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Profile Name | Specify a name for Profile. |
| Profile Description | Specify the description for the Profile. |
| Default | Select a check box to make the Profile as default for Assets with unmapped Profile. |
| Unmapped Application | - Lists the options to categorize an unmapped application. Allow: Select the option to allow the installation of unmapped application. - Warning: Select the option to display a warning to user before installing unmapped application. - Block: Select the option to block the installation of unmapped application. |
| Master Profile | Select this check box to set the Profile as master Profile for Assets with unmapped profiles. Master Profile can be configured with applications of allow type only. |
| Active | Indicates the status set for a Profile. - If selected, the Profile is enabled to display in the Profile List. - If not selected, the Profile will be a inactive Profile. |

**Software Info**

You can view a list of configured software under the Software Info tab. You can set the software restriction status for the software. Click the Filters icon on the ACTIONS panel. Select the allow type of the software to be displayed from the Search By list. You can also type in the name of the software in the text box or use the wildcard search %. Select Software View as Summary or Detail. The software with the selected restriction is displayed under SOFTWARE INFO tab as shown in the following screen shot: The following table describes the fields on the SOFTWARE INFO tab of the CREATE/UPDATE PROFILE page.

| --- | --- |
| Software Info |
| Use Default Baseline | Select the check box to use this Profile as baseline. |
| Software Name | Displays the name of software. Click the software hyperlink to view the Software /Exe Link page (see: Configure Software and Executable Execution Type). |
| Publisher | Displays the name of the software publisher. |
| Version | Displays the version of software. |
| Status | Displays the configured allow type of software. |
| View File Details | Click to view the software file details on the Software Process List (see: Viewing Software Process List). |

The following table describes the fields on the EXECUTABLE INFO tab of the CREATE/UPDATE PROFILE page:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| File Name (Original File) | Type in the file name of executable file. |
| Product Version | Type in the version of product. |
| File Version | Type in the version of file. |
| Product Name | Type in the name of product. |
| Folder Path | Type in the path at which the executable file to be installed. |
| Publisher | Lists the name of software publishers. Select the publisher for the executable file from the list. You can also type in the name of publisher in the list. |
| Type | Select the type for the executable file. Allow: Select the option to allow the installation of the executable file. Warning: Select the option to provide warning message to user while installing the executable file. Block: Select the option to block the installation of the executable file. |
| ADD | Click ADD to add an executable file details. The newly added executable is displayed in the following table. |
| Edit | Select the Edit to modify the executable files details. |
| Delete | Click the Delete to delete the corresponding executable file details. |

Filters

The following table describes the fields on the FILTERS pop-up page:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Search By | Lists the following search criteria: - Allow Type: Select this option to view the list of executable based on allow type. Type in the allow type in the text box. - File Name: Select this option to view the list of executable based on file name. Type in the file name in the text box. - File Version: Select this option to view the list of executable based on file version. Type in the file version in the text box. - Folder Path: Select this option to view the list of executable based on folder path. Type in the folder path in the text box. - Product Name: Select this option to view the list of executable based on product name. Type in the product name in the text box. - Product Version: Select this option to view the list of executable based on product version. Type in the product version in the text box. - Publisher: Select this option to view the list of executable based on publisher. Type in the publisher in the text box. |

The following table describes the fields on the FOLDER INFO tab of the CREATE/UPDATE PROFILE page:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Folder Path | Type in the folder path. |
| Type | Specify the type of application. |
| ADD | Click ADD to add folder path detail. The newly added folder path is displayed in the following table. |
| Edit | Click the Edit icon to modify folder path details. |
| Delete | Click the Delete icon to delete the folder path details |

Filters

Click Filters to view list of software based on Folder Path. Type in the folder path in the text box and click SUBMIT

**ACTIONS**

**SHOW LIST**

Click SHOW LIST to display the LIST table showing all the configured Profiles.

- To edit a Profile, click the configured Profile Name. Make the required changes and click SUBMIT.
- To display the inactive Profiles, click the Include Inactive check box.

> When the configured Profiles are displayed under the LIST table, the ADD NEW and DELETE actions are displayed on the ACTIONS panel.

> Click ADD NEW to add a new Profile.
> 
> Click DELETE to delete the configured Profile. Select the check box for the Profile you want to delete and click the DELETE icon.

**Filters**

Click Filters to view list of software on the LIST table as per the selected filter criteria. Fill in the required details and click SUBMIT.

The following table describes the fields on the FILTERS pop-up page on the CREATE/UPDATE PROFILE page:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Department | Lists the configured Department. Select a Tenant from the list. |
| Search By | Lists the following search criteria: Created Date: Select this option to view profiles based on created date. If selected, the following fields are displayed to select the date range: From Date: Click the Calendar icon to select From Date. To Date: Click the Calendar icon to select To Date. Modified Date: Select this option to view profiles based on modified date. If selected, the following fields are displayed to select the date range: From Date: Click the Calendar icon to select From Date. To Date: Click the Calendar icon to select To Date. Profile Name: Select this option to view a profiles by specific name. If selected, the following fields are displayed: Search Value: Specify the search value to list profiles. Select a Search By criteria from the list. |

**DELETE**

Click DELETE to delete the selected Profile, Software, Executable, or Folder Path.

**NONE**

Click NONE to change the status of the selected Software as None.

**WHITE LIST (ALLOW)**

Click WHITE LIST (ALLOW) to change the status of the selected Software as Allow.

**BLACK LIST (BLOCK)**

Click BLACK LIST (BLOCK) to change the status of the selected Software as Block.

**WARNING**

Click WARNING to change the status of the selected Software as Warning.
