This report compares changes in the software Asset estate for each vendor over a specified time period, highlighting updates in vendor status.

Report Usage

The purpose of this report is to help organizations track software estate changes by vendor, supporting audit reviews, compliance, and strategic asset management decisions.

Example

A software asset management team uses this report to compare changes in the software asset estate for major vendors such as Microsoft, SAP, and Oracle between January and December of a fiscal year. By analyzing variations in vendor status, such as newly onboarded vendors, upgraded relationships, or discontinued vendors, the team gains visibility into how the software estate has evolved over time. This supports audit reviews, helps validate compliance posture, and enables informed strategic decisions around vendor consolidation, risk management, and future sourcing strategies.


Steps

To view the Audit Comparison - Estate Change By Vendor report, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Reports > Asset Management to open the dashboards page. Search for Audit Comparison - Estate Change By Vendor from the Dashboard list.

  2. Select <Report Name> to open a structured, tabular view displaying all virtual and physical asset attributes.

  3. The following table outlines key fields in the report along with concise descriptions of their purpose and usage.

    Manufacturer

    The name of the software vendor or manufacturer being tracked.

    Vendor Status

    The current status of the vendor’s assets in the estate (e.g., added, removed, unchanged) for the selected period.

Filters

Use filter icon to refine the report results based on selected criteria and display only relevant records

Enter the details as described in the following table and click Apply filters to view the report or Clear all to reset the filters.

Field

Description

Start Date

Defines the beginning of the time period for analyzing changes in the software asset estate.

End Date

Defines the end of the time period for comparing vendor‑level software estate changes.

Manufacturer

Filters the report to show asset estate changes for a specific software vendor or manufacturer.

Vendor Status

Filters vendors based on their status during the selected period, such as active, inactive, new, or discontinued.
