What is Change Advisory Board?

The Change Advisory Board (CAB) is a group of members who authorize and approve the Change Requests (CRs) and take important decisions related to the CRs. You can configure the Change Advisory Board (CAB) members who can authorize and approve the Change Records (CRs).

To configure CAB members, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Change > Configuration > Change Advisory Board.
    The Change Advisory Board List page is displayed.

  2. On the Change Advisory Board page, click Add New on the ACTIONS panel.

  3. Select the Department and type in the new CAB member details. For information about the fields on the Change Advisory Board page, see Field Description.

  4. Click Submit. A new CAB member is configured.

     

Field Description

The following table describes the fields on the Change Advisory Board page:

Category

  • Available Categories: Select one or more Categories that you want to configure for a CAB member and click the icon to move to the Selected Categories list.

  • Selected Categories: To remove any Category from the Selected Categories list, select the Category and click icon.

Change Type

  • Available Change Type: Select one or more Change Types that you want to configure for a CAB member and click the icon to move to the Selected Change Types list.

  • Selected Change Types: To remove any Change Type from the Selected Change Type list, select the Change Type and click the icon.

Workgroup

  • Available Workgroup: Select one or more Workgroups that you want to configure for the CAB member and click the icon to move to the Selected Workgroups list.

  • Selected Workgroups: To remove any Workgroup from the Selected Workgroups list, select the Workgroup and click the icon.

Change Category

Select the Change Category to configured it for the CAB member.

Change Advisory Board Member

Enter the name of the CAB member in the textbox, or click the Search icon to select a CAB member from the list. For more details on how to search users, refer to Searching Users.

Active

Indicates the status set for the CAB member.

  • If selected, the CAB member becomes an active CAB member and can perform the actions of a CAB member.

  • If not selected, the CAB member becomes inactive and cannot perform the actions of a CAB member.


ACTIONS

This section explains all the icons on the ACTIONS panel of the CHANGE ADVISORY BOARD page.


SHOW LIST

Click Show List to display the List table showing all the configured CAB members for the selected Department.

  •  To edit details about a CAB member, click the Name of the CAB member. Make the appropriate changes and click Submit.

  • To display the inactive CAB members, click the Include Inactive checkbox.

Notes

  • When the list of CAB members is displayed under the LIST table, the ADD NEW action is displayed on the ACTIONS panel. Click ADD NEW to configure a new CAB member.

  • When the list of CAB members is displayed under the LIST table, the BOARD action is displayed on the ACTIONS panel. Using the BOARD action, you can configure the required CAB approvals for a selected combination of Change Type and Category under a Department. Select a Category and Change Type. Specify the required number of CAB approvals in the Required Approver Count text box for the required Workgroup. Click Submit to save your changes. This configuration is displayed under the Approvers tab of the Change Record page.

CAB Approvers

Click CAB Approvers to configure the required approver count. You can configure the required CAB approvals for a selected combination of Change Type and Category under a Department. Select a Category and Change Type. Specify the required number of CAB approvals in the Required Approver Count text box for the required Workgroup. Click Submit to save your changes. This configuration is displayed under the Approvers tab of the Change Record page.
