The Change Category serves as the classification system when working on a Change Record (CR). Organizations have the flexibility to incorporate specific Change Categories tailored to their unique requirements. This customization allows to add and modify Change Categories at Tenant level, enabling a tailored approach to categorize and manage changes within the organization's framework.

Solution
ACME's IT department is implementing a software upgrade across its infrastructure to enhance system performance and security. The change involves updating components which can potentially impact various services.

Sam the administrator integrates Change Category, and Solution processes, the IT organization can effectively manage and address challenges that arise during significant changes, ensuring a smooth and optimized IT environment.

To configure the Classification for a Problem Record, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Design Studio > Change Management > Configurations > Change Masters > Change Category.

  2. Select Department from list to configure Change Category.
    A list of all the configured Change Categories for the selected Tenant is displayed.

  3. Right-click on any one of the configured Category and a list of options are displayed to work on the node. Click Save.
    A pop-up list is displayed with the following options:

Refer to the following table for the Node actions:

 Node Description
Create Root NodeClick this option to create a new Root Node is created at the top of the configured Node list.
Create Child NodeClick this option to create a Child Node. Child Node is created under the Root Node.
RenameClick this option to rename a Node.
DeactivateClick this option to set the Change Category as inactive.
Set as DefaultClick this option to set a Node/Change Category as Default Node/Change Category.
Add IconAdd Icon corresponding to the Change Category.
Add DescriptionDescribe the Change Category Node. This is feature is applicable for the Root as well as the Child Node.
Notes
  • The Green color indicates that the Change Category is the default.
  • The Red color indicates that the Change Category is an inactive Closure Category.
  • An asterisk (*) represents mandatory field.


ButtonDescription
ResetReset to restore the initial state of the configuration screen.
CloseClose to cancel the unsaved changes and close the Change Category screen.
