Configure Localization

Note
All forms need to be saved once to ensure that the attributes appear on the localization screen.

Configure Localization

The localization configuration on Apex helps clients worldwide translate forms and fields on the application into different languages. To configure localization settings, perform the following steps:

  1.  Navigate to Design Studio > Application > Configuration > Localization Configuration.

  2. Select the required forms and fields. Click Save to save the translated forms or fields. 

The fields available on the localization page are explained below. 

Note
When the Translation Scope is selected as Global, then only Language and Translation scope are displayed as below. Arabic language is used as an example here.

Language 

The Language dropdown allows you to choose from the list of languages available for Translation.

Translation Scope

The translation scope lists the various forms available on Apex that can be translated.

The different labels available are explained in the following table.

Field Description 

Global

Translates all the global forms and fields that are available across the application. 

Consumer Forms

Translates all the forms and fields available for the analysts and end users such as cancel incident form, provide feedback, reopen incident form, etc.

Master Data

Translates all the forms and fields available in the common master and admin forms such as priority, urgency, etc.

Service PortalTranslates all the forms and fields available on the service portal such as end user portal, analyst portal, etc. 
Producer FormsTranslates all the forms and fields available on the interface of the application such as themes, AD import, Bulletins, etc. 
Note
The information icon displays a message stating, " Global labels are built-in or preset system labels, while Local labels are user generated static and dynamic labels."


Module

The module dropdown allows you to select the different modules in the application such as Incident Management, Service Request, Problem Management, or Change Management. For example, if the Incident module is selected then all the forms and fields available for Incidents can be translated.

Translation By

The Translation By dropdown allows you to choose a Form or a Field where the Language Translation should be applied. 

  • If By Form is selected, you can choose the particular form to be translated. For example, if you choose By Form then the list of available forms is displayed such as, Incident details, Resolution code, Provide Feedback, etc.
  • If By Field is selected, you can choose the fields to be translated. For example, if you choose By Field then type in the field name such as urgency, impact, etc. that is to be translated.

Auto Translator

The auto-translator feature automatically translates the forms and fields on the application. This feature ensures that translation is automatically done without manual intervention. 

Select all the mandatory details and click Auto Translator. Click Save to save the translation.

The options available on the auto-translator page are explained in the following table.

Field Description 

Resource Type

Displays if the field to be translated is a label, validation message, placeholder, help text, etc. 

Field

Displays the name of the field, full validation message, etc. 

Value

Displays the translated field value in the selected language. 

SearchEnables you to search for any specific resource, field, or value.
Note
Once you click Save on the Global Settings page, the translated page takes about 5 minutes to load in the selected language.



Edit Profile

For the language translation to be applied for the forms and fields in Apex, the language option in Profile should be updated. 

To update the language in the Profile settings, perform the following steps:

  1.  Navigate to the top bar on the application and click the Profile name. Click Edit Profile.

  2.  On the User Profile page, select the Language you wish to translate the Apex application.

  3.  Click Submit. Apex application is now translated to the selected language.

Note
For a specific language translation be applied, that specific language must be selected on the User Profile.
