Use Action Panel to let user perform the frequent tasks such as Send Email, Export to PDF or Change History and more actions without leaving the page.

Let's explore the following use-case.


Use Case

User Persona: Application Designer

Solution
The Application Designer Fredrick wants to create an interface where the form actions such as export all incidents to a PDF, export all incidents to an excel, Change History of incidents should be available on Incident Details page.
Also, some frequent actions such as adding a new Incident and displaying list of incidents should appear on the topmost section for quick reference.
To achieve this functionality, he can drag and drop the Actions (Controls > Form Actions) on the interface. Configure the form actions with label as Export to PDF, Export to Excel and Change History utilities as other actions.
Configure the Add New and Show List actions under the Quick Actions block.

Configure Form Actions

Let's configure the form actions!

To configure the form actions, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to General tab of Form Designer. Enter all mandatory details required for the Form.
  2. In Design Form tab, from the left pane select Controls > Form Actions.

  3. Drag and drop the required Actions form control on design canvas. Available options are as follows:
  • Actions
  • Form Components

Actions

Click Settings icon to configure the properties. You can view the following tabs:

  • Properties
  • Validations
  • Visibility

Properties

To configure Splitter, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Design Studio > Form Designer > Design Form > Controls > Form Actions > Actions. 
  2. Drag and drop the Actions form control. Click Settings icon to configure the properties of the Actions. A sample screenshot is shown below:

FieldDescription
General
LabelSpecify the name for the Actions Panel. This name identifies the Actions Panel in the form.
For Example: Actions
Note
Maximum 50 characters are allowed.
Special Characters are not allowed. 
Display Actions in List PageBy default, the Actions Panel is always displayed in the Record Details page. Enable this option to display the Actions Panel in Record List page. Three dots will be displayed towards the end of the row. 
Utilities - Configure the utilities which will be actually displayed and available in the Actions Panel for the consumer.
UtilitiesThe available Utilities are as follows:
  • Record History
  • Send Email
  • Sub Forms
  • Templates
  • Export and Clone Options
Quick ActionsDrag and drop the required utilities to Quick Actions which needs to get accessed quickly by end-user.
Note
Maximum 3 actions are allowed to be placed under Quick Actions.
The Quick Actions will have set of the utilities or set of actions to be displayed as quick actions on the form. You can find the Quick Action panel on following placeholders:

On Record Details page, by default
On Records List page if the option Display Actions in List Page is selected

The configured utility will be displayed as an individual icon on the top panel of the Record details page.
The configured utility will be displayed as an individual icon towards the end of a Record List page. 
Other Actions

Validations

This tab is to configure any validations for Action form control.

Visibility

This tab is to configure the visibility of Actions Utility. A sample screenshot is shown below:
