Hardware and Software Variance in Asset Management
Goal
Goal is to showcase how the Apex Asset Management application helps organizations effectively identify, analyze, and address variances in their IT asset inventory, both for hardware and software, across various sectors.
Scenario
NovaTech manages thousands of IT assets distributed across various offices worldwide. The company has implemented an IT asset management system to track these assets, including computers, servers, networking equipment, and software licenses. However, during periodic audits, discrepancies are discovered between the recorded inventory and the physical assets found in different locations. These variances could result from various factors such as human error, theft, misplacement, or improper tracking procedures.
User Persona

Solution
Ira can log into Apex's Asset Management application and view the Variance List page. This page provides complete information on both Hardware Variance and Software Variance of the entire asset inventory. On the list page, Variance information is easily conveyed through color-coded icons.
Orange indicates Hardware Variance, while purple signifies Software Variance.
Steps
To achieve this goal, perform the following steps:
- Login to Apex.
- Navigate to Asset Management > Manage Asset > Variance.
- The Variance List page is displayed.
