Use Case

User persona: Administrator

Solution
Sandra needs a versatile text input area to accommodate different types of small information, such as plain text, email addresses, URLs, and telephone numbers.
John can select a Text widget and configure the generic features of widgets using the Properties option to meet the company's design requirements.
The background color of the text input box can be customized to align with the company's color scheme. Additionally, the border style, color, and thickness can be adjusted to ensure it complements the overall design.

Configure Text

Application Designer can select the Text widget in the Service Portal through the Design Portal screen.

To configure Text, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Design Service Portal > Widgets > Text.Figure: Adding Widgets
     
  2. Customize the Service Portal by dragging the Text widget from the widget list screen.Figure: Text
     
  3. Click Settings icon to view the Properties pop-up.

You can view the following tabs on the Settings for this field:

Properties

This section contains details of the Properties tab using which the Application Designer can configure the text content for widget. To know more about the fields available under the Properties section, see the Field Description below.

Field Description

Properties
Enter text hereEnter desired text into the textbox and check the $ sign functionality to fetch user-related information. This field is automatically populated based on the user currently accessing the service portal. The screenshot displays the field with "$u," which is used to populate the User Name.

Appearance 

This section contains the list of features using which the Application Designer can select Text and Border

The table below contains the list of fields and their descriptions that are available under the Appearance section:

Field Description

Text
Text Type
Select the appropriate text type format from the drop-down list. The Text type can be changed for the widget if required.Figure: Text Type
Text Color
Select the appropriate font color for the widget by selecting the color from the color palette.Figure: Text Color
Text Size
Select the appropriate font size by dragging the slider. Here text size is selected as 12.Figure: Text Size
Text Style
Select the appropriate font style from the drop-down list. 
Text Style allows for the selection of one or more styles (bold, italics, and/or underlined) simultaneously.

Text Alignment
Select the suitable Text Alignment from the drop-down list for the widget. Only one alignment can be selected at any given time.Figure: Text Alignment

Border
Border Select the border by selecting the desired Border Type.Figure: Border

Dimensions
DimensionSelect the widget's height and width from the drop-down list. You can set the height in pixels (px) and the width in both percentage (%) and pixels (px). Using a percentage for width allows the widget to fill the container's width.Figure: Dimension
