If you need to display longer text content that doesn't fit in a tagline, use the Text widget. It offers formatting options to create interactive and user-friendly text in the portal.
Application Designer
Use Case User persona: Administrator | Solution |
Sandra needs a versatile text input area to accommodate different types of small information, such as plain text, email addresses, URLs, and telephone numbers. | John can select a Text widget and configure the generic features of widgets using the Properties option to meet the company's design requirements. The background color of the text input box can be customized to align with the company's color scheme. Additionally, the border style, color, and thickness can be adjusted to ensure it complements the overall design. |

Configure Text
Application Designer can select the Text widget in the Service Portal through the Design Portal screen.
To configure Text, perform the following steps:
- Navigate to Design Service Portal > Widgets > Text.Figure: Adding Widgets
- Customize the Service Portal by dragging the Text widget from the widget list screen.Figure: Text
- Click Settings icon to view the Properties pop-up.

Properties
This section contains details of the Properties tab using which the Application Designer can configure the text content for widget. To know more about the fields available under the Properties section, see the Field Description below.

Enter text here | Enter desired text into the textbox and check the $ sign functionality to fetch user-related information. This field is automatically populated based on the user currently accessing the service portal. The screenshot displays the field with "$u," which is used to populate the User Name. Figure: Text |
Appearance
This section contains the list of features using which the Application Designer can select Text and Border.

Text Type | Select the appropriate text type format from the drop-down list. The Text type can be changed for the widget if required.Figure: Text Type |

Text Style | Select the appropriate font style from the drop-down list. Text Style allows for the selection of one or more styles (bold, italics, and/or underlined) simultaneously. Figure: Text Style |
Text Alignment | Select the suitable Text Alignment from the drop-down list for the widget. Only one alignment can be selected at any given time.Figure: Text Alignment |

Dimension | Select the widget's height and width from the drop-down list. You can set the height in pixels (px) and the width in both percentage (%) and pixels (px). Using a percentage for width allows the widget to fill the container's width.Figure: Dimension |
