Imports - Data Feed Summary

Prev Next

This Data Feed Summary (Imports) report provides a comprehensive summary of the current status of all data feeds responsible for importing Asset data. It details key information for each feed, including the most recent import date, the total number of assets imported, and the assigned priority level of each feed. Additionally, the report allows for filtering by environment, enabling stakeholders to focus on specific contexts and ensuring that the data presented is both relevant and actionable for effective asset management and decision-making.

Usage

This facilitates the effective monitoring and management of the health and status of asset data feeds. By providing detailed insights into the frequency and recency of data imports, the report enables IT and Software Asset Management (SAM) teams to ensure that asset data remains current and regularly updated. Additionally, it assists in identifying data feeds that may be stale or experiencing issues, such as those with no recent import activity, allowing for timely intervention. The report also tracks asset coverage by data feed and environment, supporting comprehensive oversight and control. Furthermore, it helps teams prioritize specific feeds for troubleshooting and validation, thereby promoting proactive maintenance and sustaining data integrity across the entire SAM platform.

Example

During a monthly health check, the SAM Team uses the Data Feed Summary report to evaluate the status of all active data feeds.

By scanning the "Last Import" column, the team identifies that the “Active Directory” feed last imported data on an expected schedule, but the “Azure AD Disabled Users” feed has not run for several days.

Additionally, the “Last Asset Count” column shows a sudden drop in imported assets for the “Microsoft SCCM” feed—from around 1200 in previous weeks to just a few hundred in the latest run.

These observations allow the team to:

  • Investigate ingestion issues for the affected feeds

  • Determine whether the drop in asset count was caused by connection errors, data anomalies, or misconfigurations

  • Escalate stale feeds to the technical operations team before they affect reconciliation

  • Ensure accurate and complete asset datasets across the platform

By acting quickly based on this report, the organization prevents downstream inaccuracies, strengthens audit readiness, and maintains data freshness across environments.

Field

Description

Data Feed

The name or source of the data import (e.g., SCCM, JAMF, Intune, manual CSV import).

Last Import

The most recent date and time the data feed successfully imported data.

Last Asset Count

The total number of assets (e.g., devices, software installations) imported during the last data feed run.

Priority

Indicates the importance or processing order of the data feed, which can impact how conflicts or overlaps are resolved during reconciliation.
