Example

A user reviews the Software Inventory Summary (Licensable) report to understand which software applications are installed across the organization and their compliance status. They identify applications that are unused or underutilized and take action to remove or reassign them. This helps improve license compliance, reduce costs, and optimize software usage across the organization.

Steps:

To view the Software Inventory - Software Inventory Summary (Licensable) report, perform the following steps:

1. Navigate to Reports > Asset Management > Select and Search the report name.
   The Dashboards page is displayed.

3. The table describes the fields available in the Software Inventory - Software Inventory Summary (Licensable) report.

   Field	Description
   Manufacturer	The company or vendor that developed the software.
   Product	The name of the specific software application.
   Version	The specific release or edition number of the software.
   Custom Category	Organizational grouping or classification assigned to the software.
   License Metric	The unit of measurement for licensing (e.g., per device, per user, per core).
   Usage Quantity	The number of instances where the software is actually in use.
   License Quantity	The number of licenses the organization owns for that software.
   Discovered Metric	The measured units of software discovered by the inventory tool (may differ from licensed units).
   Compliance	Indicates if software usage is within (compliant) or exceeding (non-compliant) the available licenses.
   Country of Use	The country where the software is deployed and in use.
   Environment	The operational context for the software (e.g., Production, Test, Development).
   Status (New or Accepted)	Indicates whether the software is newly discovered or has been accepted by the parent BU for the management.
   Responsibility	The person or department accountable for the software.
   Identified Manually	Indicates if the software record was manually added or identified.
   Don't Track	Indicates whether the organization has chosen not to monitor this software.
   Stage (Other or Managed Software)	"Managed Software" indicates if the management of the software is by the parent BU.

   Filters

   Use filter icon to refine the report results based on selected criteria and display only relevant records.

   Enter the details as described in the following table and click Apply filters to view the report or Clear all to reset the filters.

   Field	Description
   Manufacturer	Select or enter the software vendor name (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe) to filter inventory by manufacturer.
   Product	Enter or select the specific software product you want to view in the inventory.
   Custom Category	Choose the predefined category used by your organization to group software (e.g., Productivity, Security, Database).
   License Metric	Select the licensing model applicable to the software, such as per user, per device, per core, or subscription.
   Compliance	Choose the compliance status you want to filter by (e.g., Compliant, Under-licensed, Over-licensed).
   Country of Use	Select the country where the software is deployed or being used.
   Environment	Choose the environment where the software is installed, such as Production, Test, or Development.
   Status	Select the current lifecycle status of the software record (e.g., Active, Retired, Inactive).
   Responsibility	Enter or select the person, team, or department responsible for managing the software.
   Dont Track	Select this option if you want to include or exclude software marked as “Do Not Track” in the system.
   Stage	Choose the software lifecycle stage, such as Discovery, Normalization, Review, or Managed.
