Create Report and Dashboard

The Create Report and Dashboard capability enables you to use natural-language prompts to create reports and dashboards. The AI interprets the reporting requirement;

  • Identifies the relevant data and visualization

  • Generates the requested report

  • Creates a dashboard using the selected chart(s)

The generated report and dashboard can be previewed and refined before saving.

Create Report

To create report and dashboard, perform the following steps:

  1. Navigate to the ITSM/ITAM > Reports > Click icon to launch the Prompt-to-Report interface.

  2. Type ‘Create a report showing incident count by status.’ in the Prompt Input Field and click .
    The AI processes the entered prompt and asks the user to confirm the requirement before proceeding with report creation.

  3. Type Go ahead and click .
    The AI processes the information and generates rows based on the data in the selected tables.

  4. Review the query generated in the Preview section. If the query meets your requirement, enter and click .
    The AI then processes the information and prompts you to select the required chart type for the report.

  5. Select the Chart Type from the list and click Continue. For more information on Chart Type, click Chart Type.
    The AI creates the chart and prompts you to provide a name by selecting one of the three suggested options or entering a custom name.

  6. Enter a new name or use an AI-suggested name in the Prompt Input Field, then click .
    The chart is created successfully.

Create Dashboard

A dashboard provides a consolidated view of one or more reports and visualizations, enabling users to monitor and analyze ITSM data in a single view.

To create a Dashboard, perform the following steps:

  1. After creating and reviewing the report, AI prompt to onfirm that you want to create a dashboard for the generated report.

  2. Type Yes or Go ahead and click .
    The dashboard is created with “Dashboard” appended to the report name.

  3. AI request if you want to search the existing report or create new one. Type No and click .

The following example demonstrates a report and dashboard created using Prompt-to-Report:

  • Status-Based Incident Count – Report

  • Status-Based Incident Count Dashboard – Dashboard

Chart Type

Selecting the right chart type is crucial for effective data visualization. Here's guidance on when to use each type:

Chart Type

Description

Bar Chart

Best for comparing values across categories. Use for status breakdowns, priority distributions, team comparisons.

Line Chart

Ideal for showing trends over time. Use for incident volumes by week/month, resolution time trends.

Pie Chart

Shows composition and proportions. Use for percentage breakdowns of a single metric (example, % of tickets by status).

Area Chart

Shows cumulative trends. Use for stacked data over time (example, workload by team over months).

Number

Displays a single key metric. Use for KPIs like "Total Incidents" or "Average Resolution Time."

Table

Shows detailed data in rows and columns. Use when specific values or precise numbers are more important than visual patterns.
