This approach enables stakeholders to assess the reliability and consistency of user information, identify potential duplicate records, and enhance data cleansing and reconciliation efforts within the organization.

Usage

Thid delivers a detailed and comprehensive overview of the origins of user data within the organization. By systematically identifying and recording the source of each user record, the report supports essential activities such as data validation, cleansing, and reconciliation. This approach ensures that all user data is accurate, consistent, and reliable, thereby enhancing the quality of information available for organizational decision-making and promoting effective data management practices.

Example

During a data quality review, the IT Operations Team uses the User Origins report to investigate discrepancies in user account information.

By filtering the report to display users with an Origin Count = 2 or more, the team identifies several users whose data is being reported from both Azure O365 and Active Directory, but with inconsistent naming conventions or incomplete attribute values.

This insight enables the team to:

  • Resolve mismatches between systems

  • Update outdated directory records

  • Eliminate duplicate or redundant user entries

  • Confirm which system holds the correct version of the user profile

As a result, the organization improves the accuracy of its identity data, prevents issues in authentication and provisioning workflows, and maintains a clean, reliable user repository.
